There is a significant amount of dissatisfaction that has not found its voice of late in light of the events and subsequent governance pertaining to same. Like any good frog taking a rest on the rim of the stew pot from that nagging feeling that the temperature is getting incrementally hotter, I am beginning to believe that this sort of life choice has some inherent pitfalls. I need not look any further than the the lesser of two major metropolitan newspapers still delivered to my door to find the sorts of incongruities that I am beginning to believe are written according to a plan of intelligent design to raise hackles and clench fists at the mere sight of its text based demagoguery. I find myself told both in print as well as betwixt the lines innuendo that I, as part of a ‘majority’ must cede my alleged status of superiority to a ‘minority’ for the sake of social justice. To put another way, in the lexicon of previous centuries past, the world must be turned upside down.
Now to begin with, I am not accepting of this honorary status as part of an enfranchised majority and given my current economic lack of status do not have the foggiest why anyone would extend an invitation to me as part of it by any realistically figured equation. The only factor being noted in all this is an arbitrary five letter word, ‘white’. Now consider that based upon headlines collectively added from the last year alone that this same term serves as a synonymous official reference to other terms at times like ‘European’, ‘Hispanic’ and even ‘Asian’. As it tumbles across the page from the phantom lips of paid columnists there can only be one definition, the antithesis of ‘black’. So, despite any personal sentiments to the contrary, this usage of ‘white’ infers an unspoken debt to the usage of ‘black’. This is sort of like receiving a notice out of nowhere that an unpaid parking ticket with your license plate number on it is due. You, yourself have no recollection of an events that it refers to, but legally speaking, you owe it.
I know some of you ‘white’ blood cells out there are charging up and getting ready to descend upon my observation like a flock of angry ravens. But consider that if we each took a genealogy to bed with us of all our previous ancestors replete with a rundown of their transgressions, we might find that the family names of those in the highest seats of power match up most closely with the list of those considered as ‘guilty’. Yet in the reigning spirit of the Hollywood Communism of Frank Capra’s small town fairy tale of “It’s a Wonderful Life” we need to all pitch in and shoulder the burden of shame. Perhaps someone should check the current NEA curriculum to see why all our youngsters are so eager to pick this load up without really considering the result of their actions? If you into the William Ayers, Frank Thomas, Acorn mode then I guess there is no hope for those mentioned afore as ever being fit enough to grace your mantelpiece under the tripartite visage of the heroes of the revolution. For the rest of us it is definitely time to wake up and ‘smell the coffee’ and yank some of these intellectual harlots back down to ground level from the highest rungs.
