What do you know? Really! The scenes from around your immediate vicinity that you plod through daily? The route that you customarily drive through at a particular hour of the day? The notion of facts and figures that you are spoon fed in newsprint and online periodicals? What do you know about the people half way around the world that your country or your religion puts on their enemies list. What do you know about the empty space surrounding the earth? What goes through it, and where does that stuff really come from? The list of experience goes on and on. But aside from a passive form of observation, what do you really know that you keep with you? The name you were assigned that you grew up answering to? The idea of fire being a good place not to place your hand in or ledges from several stories up or more being at bad place to take a jump off of? Not to hit anyone, especially if they are much smaller and more fragile. Of conversely not to expect to offer much damage to someone that is much more robust and greater in size than you with your feet or fists. How about telling a self serving lie or two or three or more. Not being honest or fair in dealings with your immediate friends? What do you know about that? And in the larger sense of same what do you know about the future that makes you so sure that you can put things off? Pressing things that you need to do for yourself, but that you think you have enough time in the future to accomplish? How about watching your kids grow up, or taking time off to find out who you really are as opposed to that character that everyone that knows you simply expects you to be? What after all, do you really know?
