It seems that America as a land has undergone a subsequent transformation in the last decade or two as the so called “greatest generation” has fallen to the inevitable fate of the frailty of nursing homes and the great beyond. Perhaps equally a sign of bitterly hard times getting worse but customary courtesy has fallen by the wayside as a matter of default behavior in its last bastion, the once affluent suburbs. This has been coming into being for a long time and no doubt is completely coincidental with the decline of popular entertainment from romance into a bitter slug fest of all manner of factions in terms of religion, cult, race, gender and as of late sexual orientation. The prevailing attitude that seems entrenched is every person for themselves, especially ‘ME’! The once ingrained politeness has been supplanted by silence and carefully averted suspicious glances. Immediate territory is routinely marked out and defended from intervention by garment draping and the bestowal of other personal artifacts. Strangers are kept at a distance and shunned with silence as opposed to being given some minimal deference such as holding an elevator or surrendering a seat to an elder. To avoid compliance with this dearth of public indifference in some circles is to invite slander as a die hard antifeminist or closet racist.
The decline of the West has not come of some indecipherable elemental compound resident in the food chain so much as the introduction of the corrosive dogma of ‘Political Correctness” brought to you by the distant cousins of the people that also birthed the notion of speculation and easy credit. The latest battles on the national stage being essentially a struggle of the last gasp of fiscal restraint being shot down again by the “hot check crowd.” If one could rely upon the guidance of cliches about cults and groups then life has come to emulate a bad version of any given Norman Lear sitcom. The trouble is the stereotypes are no longer funny but seriously disruptive. Hollywood, like Jerusalem needs to be re-conquered from its current rulers and re-tasked to the values that it has spent nearly a century defaming. The mentality fostered by same of the cynical self-aggrandizing dual-standard megla-manical has become a plague no different than the worst form of cancer to the overbearing culture which instantly sickens anyone that it touches. The convenient fictions of duplicity and guarded public speech currently in force stand in contradiction to the principles that perhaps were never fully implemented in this land but have fallen grievously from any form of actual use.
The default ‘We’ have become aa victim to the ‘others’ who now swarm our land with implicit letters of mark to despoil what once was universal custom and replace it with their own divergent default. The once hailed myth of the immigrant has been replaced by the sense of finally being displaced in one’s own land by foreigners with opposite divergent viewpoints on life that those who have wheedled their way into the public trust have handed down upon all while the majority have become hypnotically entranced by their view screens. Our default of optimism seems fully replaced with splinter cults inspired by the routine institutional implementation of fear and insecurity as tools of governance procreated by ungainly amalgamations of overweight national bureaucracies. The once resilient local communities of privately owned homes are now being routinely outflanked and actively replaced by communal blocks of apartment blocks that are insufficient to the task of fostering positive human interaction. The officially preferred mode of living is bringing the tenor of daily modern life for most in line with that of a ‘Globalized’ insect hive where daily moment to moment instruction comes from outside electronic stimulus of Internet and Smart phone. The daily activity of such an environment no longer focused upon constructive individual motivations but in maintaining the faux consensus of a phantom ruling structure whose apex casts the shadow of its whim over all. If you still need a diagram to graphically spell it out, then check the last remaining remnants of the fiat currency lodged between the plastic cards in your wallet and view the contribution of one of its former designer, Henry Wallace.
