Staking your life on an illusion.
What can you trust in anymore? Certainly the ground under your feet and the sky above your head. But both are subject to change. Ongoing change by choice forces and unexpected circumstances. Weather has become more violent and mercurial in recent years and the ground in some respects more toxic. The dwellings that most live in full of chemical compounds that are potentially life diminishing over and extended period of time. Frankenstein type biologically modified organisms that are byproducts of the relentless scientific modification by design and unattributed accident. A cynical system of wealth distribution that periodically inhales one’s earnings like a glutton come to a holiday feast taking many times its share. The constant threat of strangers, or possibly even your neighbors becoming violently physical and possibly permanently destructive to you or your family. The commonality of all these situations found at the crossroads of the aspect of the social construct of public mindset and a trust in what to believe as reliably true. Are you and individual or simply a semi-cognizent element of a larger organism that has a mistaken sense of its own level of influence and importance. Your experience of existence is not your own but community property. A public trust like the roads and bridges that for most urban dwellers are a result of the past tense reliable labors of previous generations of related others in a similar situation. Related in the common necessity of a trust in each other for simple survival. The cooperative aspect of so much of life as a biped is based on what can be trusted in as far as what one has been told is factual to the best of the knowledge of the medium that relays the information. Would you walk over the rope bridge crossing a canyon if you did not have trust in the belief that the persons responsible for its contraction were competent with no other agenda beyond facilitating efficient and safe traffic management of passersby without any undisclosed agendas that would be lethally posed to the traveler? There is a notion that in the layer cake of societies that are composed of millions that a public trust is relied upon to counteract all one’s potential ills by a vast number of interconnecting interests and functions that are useful to the entire society. The biggest question to our time is what will happen when the cohesiveness of this organization is challenged by competing agendas to the point that major tracts of the population no longer have faith in the larger interconnected body as reflected by the governing rules and regulations? When older statutes on the books that have served as a stable foundation are carelessly administered or ignored. Or over-layered with purposely distorted falsehoods where the opinion of a self-invested few outsiders are constantly interfering with what used to be taken for granted? Does the veracity of the interchange of ideas become based on a constant contest to divulge the elements of self-interest behind the office of public confidence that this agent of society?
Consider that the major technology of this era is a system of almost instantaneous worldwide communication. And that the largest functioning business entities are involved within the activity of managing that information for private gain. The opinions demonstrably shared as incontrovertible fact by these entities are a self-serving construct that is manufactured daily like the non-gluten muffins or the decaf coffee beans for mass consumption. You as a functioning sentient being are literally composed of an interlocking series of carefully fashioned opinions that are fed to you so that larger organization of society looks, walks and talks the way that those who provide that information desire it. If the continuum of the progress of this larger social network is smooth and incremental then the world seems happy and bright. If however this same network is contaminated by individuals that are carrying out an organized agenda to subvert it then the society becomes sickened and dysfunctional and is in danger of dissolution and collapse. Thus what you are expected to believe whether or not it is substantiated by the larger laws of physics of a common experience of the ways and workings of the universe around everyone is of prime importance. If buildings that were constructed to seek heights previously unattainable through building methods that form the state of the art of the collective genius of mankind very publicly evaporate into dust then the individuals are compelled to believe the official version whether is physically consistent with universal laws that overrule those of mankind. Does it matter if some groups within the larger whole go against the carefully managed sense of public opinion to inconveniently suggest that the actual set of events that transpired were not anywhere close to being truthful if they run counter to the larger sense of commercial authority that is entrusted publicly to perform the service of information transfer? The larger question being of course that can one have faith in a pyramidal structured organization that reflects the interests of a few that direct its operation if those few have an agenda disclosed or hidden that runs counter to that of one that is relied upon by those that are fundamentally influenced almost minute to minute in terms of the outlook of the progress of existence? If one realizes that they have been constantly deceived and at the same time substantially diminished economically without cessation then can they call into question their own beliefs without destroying the illusion of safety and stability of their entirety of their present and future existence? Does one just go with the flow and eliminate their concerns in a manner that one might periodically clean their toilet bowl by simply routinely flushing away doubt? Or does one become critically demanding in what they will accept from the larger organs of daily life and take on the consequences of a more chaotic level of existence that is subject to more unexpected consequences that may reform their existences in a manner that is currently unimaginable? Perhaps this radically exposes the point that fleas cannot motivate the dog to do their bidding collectively beyond making the larger animal constantly scratch? Yet, if one is willing to constantly challenge their own illusions, store bought or otherwise, and consider the agendas both internal and external that drive them then perhaps daily life may seem less a bit part grinding one down to dust in the constant drama of a big budget disaster movie and reliably more sensible in the long run.
